First trip of 2016 in January in the Skeeter

I've never been on a boat or had my boat in the water in January & today was the day it happened, it started out with the motor starting but not able to put it into forward or reverse so ok we are using the trolling motor to fish the bay & after working our way about 2 km away from the ramp & only seeing a few shad we headed back towards the ramp & Moe caught a Pike nothing big but we didn't get skunked lol, but it ended not so great for my motor. After loading my boat we noticed the prop was sticking out a bit more than it should be, opps this can't be good, but nobody went swimming. lol

Nice day to be on the water & 4' was the ticket

New favorite lure, 1st it caught a pike, had another follow & lost one at the boat than this Rainbow took a liken to it & Moe caught his on a spinnerbait. Fish out around Bruce A than hit up the bay & these came of rock/weed transitions.

Yesterday's Fishing & Swimming lesson kind of.

Out yesterday for the afternoon but after loosing the 1st bass on the 1st cast & having a double header the second cast, Moe's was the bigger one that he's holding, he decided to go for a swim. He was kneeing down over the seat & when he went to stand up & go to the back to fish his tube was caught on another rod & all I heard was OH SH!T & he was in the water, I dropped my rod & went to the back grabbed him by the seat of the survival suit & he was back in the boat. After getting him back out & heading to the ramp after 10 minutes of fishing he said he wasn't that wet & if he had another set of pants & boots we could go back out, so I phoned Dad & asked if he could borrow a set of cloth & it was off to Wiarton to let him change & back out to finish the day. After being under the water as his hoodie was wet, his pants were only wet to the knees & his hoodie just down past his shoulders, with very little water inside the survival suit.

These are a few of the 15 or 20 we caught after the swimming lesson. lol. Water was 40 degrees f & Tubes were the bait of the day, the sun sure felt nice when it was out.

Another Great Day in Bruce County

The wind was blowing a bit but the Smallies were biting most of the day. After seeing how bad my selfies were I started to put a few in the live well to get Mitch to take pictures, Water was 45 degrees dropped from 50 degrees 4 days ago. Bass Magnet tubes were the bait of the day with my favorite Scents. We caught 25 or 30 & lost another 6 or so & broke off a couple more, not too bad of a day.

Biggest of the Day 20.5" caught in 7.3' of water, it picked up the tube beside the boat & dropped it, I lowered it back down & it hit right under the boat, a nice surprise.

1st time out in about 3.5 weeks

Beautiful day on the water Tubes were the bait of the day with 1 coming on the drop shot, Moe caught the 1st smallie & I set the hook right after, 1st double header, 2 cast later 2nd double header than Moe caught a few more than I for the next little while, then I started catching more & ended up catching a few more than he did but Moe caught the biggest a 20.5", 1 of my 18" weighed 5 lbs & had stuff hanging out it's butt when I netted it lol. Great Day on the water with about 30 Smallies caught, likely should've took more pictures but Moe was taking some of his own & with the wind I didn't start taking pictures until we had a few in the boat, until next time.
